ODVA recently announced that conformance testing is now available for EtherNet/IP network-enabled devices that communicate over the Ethernet-APL physical layer. Conformance testing verifies the Ethernet-APL physical layer functionality by checking that the different port types properly adhere to the relevant specifications. The EtherNet/IP communication network functionality is also confirmed as a part of this process.

ABB announced recently it has signed an agreement to purchase Siemens’ low voltage NEMA motor business. With manufacturing operations in Guadalajara, Mexico, this acquisition provides a well-regarded product portfolio, a longstanding North American customer base, and an experienced operations, sales, and management team. The business employs around 600 people and generated revenues of approximately $63 million in 2021. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of 2023.
HydraForce, Inc. plans to join Bosch Rexroth’s growing portfolio of Compact Hydraulics products, expanding reach and support for customers. Bosch Rexroth, a subsidiary of Bosch, based in Lohr am Main, Germany, is a growing leader in Mobile and Industrial hydraulics products. Bosch Rexroth and HydraForce signed a respective contract on July 15, 2022. Both sides agreed to keep the purchase price confidential. The transaction is subject to anti-trust approval.

Utility Grade Infrastructure (UTG) is a technology platform and assurance program that delivers UTG-rated cabling solutions to support specific applications, performance requirements, and life cycle needs for smart buildings. Through the program, a selection of Panduit copper cables have been third-party tested and verified by UL to meet superior performance attributes. Of main interest to project developers is the extended transmission reach of copper channels: up to 185 meters instead of the industry standard 100-meter channel length. UTG-certified cables are available in North America today.

Cummins Inc. recently announced that it has closed on its acquisition of Jacobs Vehicle Systems (JVS) from Altra Industrial Motion Corp. Jacobs Vehicle Systems is a supplier of engine braking, cylinder deactivation, start and stop and thermal management technologies. The addition of JVS brings new technologies that will provide growth opportunities for Cummins’ current and future advanced engine platforms. The acquisition of JVS also secures critical USMCA qualified engine components for current and aftermarket products and expands on Cummins’ offerings to customers globally.
