In November 2019, the CCDA reached consensus on a decision to remove the Red Seal status of the Electric Motor Systems Technician trade. This decision was made following a two-year review period and was based on a number of indicators, including low usage of the trade’s Red Seal products across Canada over several years.

Yokogawa is pleased to announce the opening of the Open Process Automation (OPA) Test Bed Collaboration Center, located six miles north of ExxonMobil’s Houston campus in The Woodlands, Texas. The opening of the center follows the announcement in July 2019 of Yokogawa’s selection as ExxonMobil’s OPA Test Bed system integrator. The technology center will house the Test Bed being used to evaluate candidate components and standards which will provide the basis for moving OPA technology into initial industrial field trials.
Power management company Eaton recently announced it has agreed to acquire Power Distribution, Inc. (PDI), a supplier of mission critical power distribution, static switching, and power monitoring equipment and services for data centers and industrial and commercial customers. The company is headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, and had 2019 sales of $125 million.

Yokogawa Electric Corporation and MetaMoJi Corporation announce that they have jointly developed SensPlus Note, a low cost and easy to implement solution for the digitization of plant data on mobile devices. SensPlus Note, a solution in Yokogawa’s OpreX Operation and Maintenance Improvement family, improves the efficiency and quality of maintenance work and the precision of post-maintenance analyses by enabling data from plant field work to be used more efficiently. This solution will be released in all markets worldwide on January 31.
Balluff has improved its delivery time of made-to-order cables and connectivity products. Most of the sensor cable portfolio is now available in 5 days or less. This includes nearly all the single- and double-ended M8 and M12 sensor cable portfolio, plus power cables, Ethernet cables, and valve connector cables, as well as field-attachable connectors, bulkhead connectors, receptacles, adapters and terminating resistors, T-splitters and Y-splitters.
