Rexroth app speeds up service

November 27, 2018

An app for all installed Rexroth control systems: the Digital Service Assistant helps reduce machine downtimes. The Digital Service Assistant simplifies error diagnosis and facilitates servicing.

By allowing wireless access to the error memory of all machines equipped with Rexroth control systems, the new Digital Service Assistant (DSA) app from Bosch Rexroth makes it easy for end users to obtain help whenever servicing is required. It clearly identifies components and allows spare parts to be ordered or repairs to be made out more quickly. As a modular building block, OEMs can fully integrate the app into their service concepts.

In reality, maintenance workers usually service machines that were made by various manufacturers during different production years. Each machine has its own user interface and diagnostic menus. Bosch Rexroth makes it easier to maintain such heterogeneous machinery thanks to the Digital Service Assistant. With this app for mobile devices, maintenance workers can wirelessly read error messages and service information for all installed Rexroth control systems. At the push of a button, they can contact local Bosch Rexroth service specialists and, if requested to do so, can forward all relevant information to them. As a result, they can solve complex problems quickly and reduce machine downtimes.

The app eliminates the need to do time-concerning research to identify defective components. Maintenance technicians simply bring up the electronic name plate for the components or scan a QR code or the individual serial number. They can then quickly order the relevant spare part while still at the machine or initiate a repair order.

The app will be available for free in the 1st quarter of 2019 at the Apple App Store and then at the Google Play Store for smartphones and tablets. After the installation, the users define in the PLCs of the machines which data may be read out. To ensure data security, the connection to the machine is encrypted and the app has no write rights.

As a modular building block, the DSA, as white label version, and all of its functions also fit into OEMs’ own service tools. In this case, Rexroth remains in the background for the end user.
