MELTRIC recently announced DSN100, a new 100 A plug and receptacle. This new model is a Switch-Rated, 100 A, 600 VAC plug and receptacle fitted with DECONTACTORTM technology for peak performance and user safety. This technology allows their Switch-Rated plugs and receptacles to be safely connected and disconnected under full load, up to 200A and 100 hp, in wet or dry conditions. They combine the safety and functionality of a disconnect switch with the convenience of a plug and receptacle in one device.
Panduit Corp. announces the launch of its improved PanMPO Fiber Connector, redesigned to include key new features for an improved in-field user experience. The connector now includes a narrower connector body and a new push-pull boot that allows for improved manageability in high-density installations.
The activatable USB 2.0 host interface on the PIT oe USB enables tamper-proof import of programs and removal of data. A keyboard or mouse can also be connected. The USB port is activated via a 24 V signal; the “ready for operation” state is displayed via the LED ring.

AutomationDirect has added BPA series split-frame and BRM series solid-frame cable entry systems and cable glands from Bimed. Cable entry systems provide safe installation into enclosures or electrical equipment, securing cables and providing strain relief while maintaining enclosure sealing requirements. The BPA series cable entry system allows cables to be installed through an enclosure or other bulkhead surface without requiring disassembly of connectors from pre-made or terminated cables and without compromising environmental protections.
Nidec Servo Corporation announced recently that it has launched the world’s first* brushless DC motors equipped with Can-Bus, a communication function for vending machines’ product pay-out mechanisms. Can-Bus (Controller Area Network-Bus), a type of vehicle bus, or an internal communications network that interconnects devices inside a vehicle or a train, enables microcontrollers and devices to communicate with one another without a host computer. Though originally designed for multiplexed in-vehicle electrical wiring that is required to be noise-resistant, Can-Bus is now used widely for devices to communicate control information in such areas as robotics, which includes transportation equipment and machine tools.
Motors in conveyor systems need to be switched off safely, but the wiring and energy distribution involved is usually very complex, involving bulky cable trays, and complex distribution boxes. As a result, Wieland Electric has developed a new motor starter that reduces the complexity of installation and improves the safety of conveyor systems. The podis MS 5HP is a compact, robust and user-friendly drive component with an integrated STO (Safe Torque Off) function.
