Color Integration

Certain DC fast chargers can introduce high harmonic currents which may lead to overheating in transformers. HPS offers K-factor transformers to help manage these harmonic loads.

Some installations require an enclosure rating higher than Type 3R. In these cases, or when extra protection against heavy, blowing rain and snow is needed, we recommend the HPS 3RE+ enclosure. For warmer climates, low-temperature rise options reduce the risk of overheating and support consistent performance.

HPS offers a range of enclosure color options to match the look of modern EV charging stations.

Behind Every Charger is a Transformer

From city streets to highway rest stops, new EV chargers are popping up across North America. But while charging stations get all the attention, there’s a critical component working behind the scenes, often overlooked, but absolutely essential: the transformer.

The Most Rugged Outdoor Enclosure that meets Energy Efficiency Standards

HPS’ optional 3RE+ enclosure is designed, tested, and built for real-world conditions.

The HPS 3RE+ enclosure* is a rugged, UL-certified outdoor solution designed to protect transformers in harsh, real-world environments. Built to perform in severe weather, the 3RE+ delivers dependable protection without added complexity.

  • Louvers with filters block dust and debris and limits access to the transformer for improved safety, especially in public areas.
  • Filters at entry points protect the transformer from blowing rain and snow.
  • Bottom filters protect from ground moisture and debris.

*The HPS 3RE+ enclosure is available for transformers 75 kVA and above. The enclosure is designed to withstand severe weather conditions and has been tested to endure blowing snow and rain up to 120 km/h and block snow particles as small as 350 microns. We recommend consulting with our experts to ensure proper protection for your specific needs.
