White Paper: Piezo Technology in Pneumatic Valves

Electric motors account about 50% of global electrical energy consumption *). In Industrial applications the ratio is even higher. Depending on the region and the industrial area, 65-75% of electrical energy in industry is used for electric motors. Therefore, electrical drive technology holds a great deal of potential for reducing the worldwide energy consumption.
Servo-pneumatic balancers make it possible for employees performing assembly and logistical tasks to move heavy loads with minimal exertion.
Festo is launching a clean energy project at its North American Regional Service Center in Mason, OH, near Cincinnati. Roof-mounted solar panels on two of the three buildings will supply 48% of the facility’s electricity requirements – 2.6 million kilowatt hours (kWh) year round – when installation is completed next year. “Every kilowatt hour of electricity generated by sunlight at the Festo North American Regional Service Center is an additional kilowatt hour added to Duke Energy’s pool of electricity for local consumers and businesses,” said Jose Luis Esparza, Head of Non-Production Material Procurement, Festo North America.
Whether its grabbing, holding or turning, touching, typing or pressing – in everyday life, we use our hands as a matter of course for the most diverse tasks. In that regard, the human hand, with its unique combination of power, dexterity and fine motor skills, is a true miracle tool of nature.
Festo supplies pneumatic and electric automation technology to 300,000 customers in the field of factory and process automation.
Festo’s latest vision sensor, the economical SBSI, provides quick and easy installation and commissioning, even for someone lacking expert knowledge in industrial vision systems. Whether the vision sensor is destined to read codes or carry out simple quality inspections, the all-in-one SBSI series can be commissioned in just three steps: adjust the image with auto functions, select detectors and define the output. Everything needed for optics, lighting, evaluation and communication is fully integrated in the device.
Weidmüller’s scalable engineering software, u-control 2000, adapts individually to your requirements. And, the u-control is powerful, compact and fully compatible with Weidmüller’s I/O system u-remote. This article looks at what makes u-control the heart of your automation.
Programmable logic controllers (PLCs) are one of the main components of any automated system. A typical control system has inputs, outputs, controllers (i.e., PLCs), and some type of human interaction with the system, a human machine interface (HMI), for example.
