ABB Unveils Ability™ BuildingPro to Accelerate Decarbonization and Digital Transformation in Smart and Sustainable Buildings
November 25, 2025

- Connects monitors and controls building systems through on-site intelligence and cloud connectivity
- Includes BuildingPro Vision and Edge Series to deliver real-time supervision, control, and secure data integration
- Empowers building owners, operators, and system integrators to monitor, control, and optimize performance in real time – across a single building or entire portfolios
ABB has announced the launch of ABB Ability™ BuildingPro, a cybersecure integration platform designed to connect, manage, and optimize building operations. Available across more than 40 countries worldwide, the solution supports key sectors including commercial real estate, education, healthcare, hospitality, and government – helping organizations accelerate decarbonization and digital transformation.
Acting as a central intelligence hub, it unifies data from building systems to improve performance, reduce energy use, and enhance occupant experience. Built on openBOS®, the platform’s open, edge-based architecture delivers seamless interoperability, advanced cybersecurity – fully compliant with the latest international cybersecurity standards and regulations – and the flexibility to integrate future AI-driven tools. This makes ABB Ability™ BuildingPro a future-ready foundation for digital transformation in buildings of all types.
As part of the launch, ABB is introducing ABB Ability™ BuildingPro Vision and ABB Ability™ BuildingPro Edge Series, two integrated solutions that bring the platform’s capabilities to life. Working together, they empower building owners, operators, and system integrators to monitor, control, and optimize performance in real time – across a single building or entire portfolios.

“Buildings today need to do more; they need to be smart, adaptive, sustainable, and secure,” said Lucy Han, Business Line Leader, Building Automation, ABB Electrification’s Smart Buildings Division. “With ABB Ability™ BuildingPro, we are helping our customers take control of their building data, make smarter decisions in real time, and accelerate their journey toward decarbonization – all while creating more comfortable, productive spaces for people.”
ABB Ability™ BuildingPro Vision gives facility teams an intuitive, live view of building operations. Through a dynamic, web-based interface – complete with animated floor plans, asset views, and dashboards – it enables real-time monitoring and control of key systems and spaces from a single platform. With its accessible design and local or cloud deployment options, Vision empowers operators to make faster, smarter decisions on-site.

The ABB Ability™ BuildingPro Edge Series are powerful hardware controllers that collect and process local building data. Designed for secure connectivity between on-site systems and the cloud, they also support future predictive analytics and AI-driven automation.
Buildings account for around 30 percent of global energy consumption and 26 percent of emissions1. By helping customers visualize and act on their energy data, ABB Ability™ BuildingPro provides a tangible way to reduce consumption, lower costs, and accelerate progress toward sustainability goals.
Beyond energy performance, the BuildingPro platform – together with its Vision software and Edge devices – also helps create healthier, more comfortable environments while strengthening cybersecurity and operational resilience.

As buildings evolve and sustainability targets tighten, ABB Ability™ BuildingPro helps customers meet new demands with flexible, scalable technology that protects long-term investments as building technologies and regulations continue to advance. Built on an open, cybersecure architecture, the platform integrates effortlessly with both legacy devices and next-generation smart technologies – supporting widely adopted industry protocols such as BACnet®, Modbus, KNX, LonWorks, and MQTT. By combining edge and cloud technology, open data standards, and smart digital tools, ABB is reinforcing its commitment to creating smarter, more sustainable spaces.

Smart Buildings: the Smart Choice for Sustainability
The sustainability benefits of smart homes are well publicised and those of us who have digital power outlets, smart thermostats and automatic lights know firsthand about the energy and cost savings. However, much less discussed is the broader adoption of smart building technology by companies and industries. With buildings generating nearly 30 percent of all greenhouse gas emissions,1 it would be impossible to ignore how quickly our path to net zero would expedite if entire sectors adopted them.
