MENNEKES: Introducing the New CDS Series of Non-Metallic, Curved-Top Switches

September 30, 2020

MENNEKES‘ new CDS Series is the industry’s first non-metallic, curved-top disconnect switch. This clean, innovative design features a curved profile to eliminate standing water and minimize contaminant buildup in food processing and other cleanroom operating environments.

Improving Equipment and Personnel Safety

Disconnect switches are a reliable way to safely control power to meet lockout-tagout (LO/TO) requirements and protect plant personnel. With a curved profile and chemically resistant thermoplastic enclosure, CDS units are rated to UL Type 4X and IP69K to withstand frequent washdown and high-pressure water. Also, NSF-certified, this Series can satisfy most line disconnect requirements with a 30A and 25HP rating.

Other notable features and benefits include:

  •    –   Laser marked cover for permanent identification—no labels
  •    –   Captive stainless-steel cover screws
  •    –   Poured-in-place seamless gasket
  •    –   Standard early-break auxiliary contacts—1 N/O, 1 N/C
  •    –   “Suitable as Motor Disconnect” per NEC 430-109(a)(6)
  •    –   65,000 SCCR rating with Class J fuses
  •    –   Impact Modified and UV stabilized materials

Part of MENNEKES’ Full Line of Motor Disconnects

MENNEKES‘ new CDS Series is part of their larger offering of motor disconnects. If your application doesn’t require a curved design, the new DS Series incorporates many of the same features as CDS units, but its flat roof allows for both top and bottom conduit.

Both series feature two mounting systems: internal sealed caps to the current MENNEKES footprint, as well as external feet that are compatible with HBLDS3 and HBLDS3AC.
