Machine Safety Forum – March 9th & 10th 2021

February 1, 2021

Keeping workers safe and keeping the production line going may seem contradictory, but in most cases, safety solutions increase productivity and machine availability. Implementing risk mitigation techniques without following the right process, however, can have a detrimental effect on productivity. On March 9th & 10th, 2021, the Machine Safety Forum will bring together Functional Safety Experts, standards experts, and solutions providers to provide information and guidance on safety processes and best practices.

Featured Presentations

Presentations and discussions will focus on risk assessments, ANSI B11 standards (special guest) and the machine safety lifecycle. Presentations will include:

  •    –   Machine Safety Lifecycle
  •    –   ANSI B11 Machinery Safety Standards and Their Importance – presented by David Felinski, ANSI B11 Committee President
  •    –   Selling Machinery to Europe, Law and Directives
  •    –   A guide to choosing the right safety software

Special Guest

Wieland have invited David Felinski for a special presentation on the ANSI B11 Standards. He is the President of B11 Standards Inc., which is the Secretariat and ANSI-accredited Standards Developer for the B11 series of machinery safety standards, and technical reports, as well as the U.S. TAG Administrator to ISO/TC 199, ISO/TC270 and SC 10 of ISO/TC 39. Register here.

Roundtable Invitation

In addition, registrants will have unique opportunity to pose their safety related questions directly to Wieland’s Functional Safety Experts and Mr. Feliski at their open roundtable. You can submit your questions ahead of time on their event page.

Weidmüller’s u-control 2000: The Automation Controller

Weidmüller’s scalable engineering software, u-control 2000, adapts individually to your requirements. And, the u-control is powerful, compact and fully compatible with Weidmüller’s I/O system u-remote. This article looks at what makes u-control the heart of your automation.

Programmable logic controllers (PLCs) are one of the main components of any automated system. A typical control system has inputs, outputs, controllers (i.e., PLCs), and some type of human interaction with the system, a human machine interface (HMI), for example.

March 15, 2024 Introduction Running a motor directly from the power source produces uniform, sinusoidal waveforms but wastes energy due to continuous speed operation regardless of the load requirements. To enhance efficiency, variable frequency drives (VFDs) control motor speed, reduce energy consumption, and minimize equipment wear. However, VFDs use pulse-width modulation (PWM) to supply electrical… Read More…
