DCS Integrate DC Devices into Work Area with AC Power Banner 1 400

The new SPS30 AC/DC In-Line Power Converter is a compact, cost-effective device that makes it easy to connect sensors and indicators that use DC power to a production line using AC. The SPS30 accepts 100–240 V AC at its input and converts that voltage to 24 V DC at its output. Specifically, it converts a DC sensor’s output to a Normally Open 4-amp electromechanical SPST relay for switching AC or DC loads. In addition, the converter’s AC input line is available to remotely teach a sensor or activate an actuator. Separate SPS30 models feature either 4-pin M8 or 5-pin M12 connectors.

The SPS30 converts 100–240 V AC to 24 V DC, so that DC sensors, actuators, or other devices can be integrated into AC-voltage environments. Its 4-amp SPST relay allows it to switch AC or DC loads, and it has an AC input wire for remote teach or activating a job input on an actuator.

  • •Converts universal 100–240 V AC line voltage to 24 V DC to power DC sensors
  • •PNP or NPN sensor output actuates a 4-amp SPST-NO (1 Form A) electromechanical relay, depending on model
  • •AC to DC TEACH line teaches a sensor or acts as a job input to a touch button
  • •½-in. 20UNF 5-pin dual-key quick disconnect on AC side
  • •150 mm (6 in.) PVC cable with an M12 or M8 quick disconnect available, depending on model number

Omron Whitepaper - MVRC: Mark, Verify, Read and Communicate

Utopias are common in fiction, from Plato’s The Republic to The Federation in Star Trek. For manufacturers, a world without unplanned downtime would be the perfect utopia. The question is, is abolishing unplanned downtime a far-fetched dream, or is it closer than we think? Here, Jonathan Wilkins, marketing director of obsolete industrial equipment supplier, EU Automation shares his vision for a downtime free age.

According to research by Oneserve, machine downtime is costing British manufacturers over £180 billion a year. Unplanned downtime halts production, but can also lead to wasted raw materials or damage to the system itself – amplifying the cost beyond loss of production. Further research conducted by GE Digital found that 70 per cent of companies lack full awareness of when equipment is due for maintenance, upgrade or repair..
